OBJECTIVES OF THE FOUNDATION

The principal objective of the Foundation is to assist politicians and decision-makers in achieving a smooth transition of economic and social structure of the Turkish society into a full fledged free market economy similar to those witnessed in western societies by providing and/or mobilizing resources for basic studies and training in this direction.

 

  Specifically, the Foundation will focus on the following objectives;

   To conduct research at the national and international level with the aim of establishing standard codes, conducts and institutions that are common in the free democratic civil societies,

   To emphasize the importance of basic individual rights of free access to information and freedom of conducting research with the ultimate aim of establishing a healthy economic structure,

   To develop and/or help develop policies for the advancement of science and technology,

   To help promote ideas and proposals in conjunction with institutional, cultural and social problems that are likely to emerge during periods of structural adjustment,

   To conduct studies and/or support individuals for developing sound policies towards the aim of identifying economic, social and cultural relationships of individuals with institutions and legal bodies of civil societies,

   To encourage studies which would promote the development of basic institutions of a market economy,

   To help individuals develop ideas on foreign policy and on possible directions of Turkey's strategic priorities within the framework of changing international relations and new events that shape the world's global policies,

   To disseminate the results of studies that are conducted by the Foundation in order to attain maximum public awareness on present and future policy alternatives and directions in the fields of economics, social sciences and education,

   To organize and conduct tailor-made training programs and to support and provide fellowships and grants for graduate and post-doctorate level studies or to help develop such programs in conjunction with the above mentioned objectives,

   To communicate its views on controversial issues in an impartial manner.

The Foundation, within the framework of the above objectives, can establish research and training institutions, assemble research teams or a publishing company; organize research studies, extension activities, seminar, workshops and conferences to transmit information to a wider audience at related public and private institutions and provide consultancy services.

The Foundation can cooperate or establish partnership with institutions and organizations of similar nature at home and abroad on macro-economic and sectoral developments, social and administrative problems during the process, alternative solutions and implementation programs and for shaping present and future policies and identifying strategies.
